Beef, 9,000 pounds of it, will be cooking Thursday night Come Thursday night, 9,000 pounds of beef is going into a 90-foot long, 42-inch wide, 6-foot deep fire pit off Ohio 603, the meat having been wrapped in foil and placed upon hot coals. The beef will spend 12 hours cooking slowly in the pit. Firefighters ready the pit by burning wood for 12-14 hours, the chief added. The famous roast beef sandwich will cost festival-goers $4.50.
