More than 100 teachers at the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) are learning they have been declared surplus will likely be out of a job as of Aug. 12.
The Elementary Teachers' Federaton of Ontario says 106 teachers were given layoff notices on Thursday after being "declared surplus." The union says it's because the Ministry of Education has not yet released its education funding for the 2024-25 school year.
Decision comes after Waterloo Region District School Board learned of its funding allocation for upcoming school year
