Members of the local Homeless Leadership Coalition are again organizing to support the unhoused and others in need in preparation for another round of excessive heat in Central Oregon. The coalition is a collaboration of community partners to support everyone to have a safe, stable place to call home. Coalition members including Jefferson County Faith-Based Network, Craig's Compassionate Cafe and churches like Mountain View Fellowship of Redmond and the Madras Free Methodist Church are offering space, staff, and resources to operate indoor cooling centers. The Corvallis Community Center is one of the places in the area offering a place for people to cool off during excessive heat this weekend. Credit City of Corvallis Lane County Lane County is activating a cooling and heat respite center at the Lane Events Center, located in Expo Hall 2 and Convention Center rooms 3 and 4.
