There are no services Monday to commemorate Martin Luther King Day because of the pandemic, Mayor Harry Rilling said at Tuesday’s Common Council meeting.
He said he had spoken to former State Rep. Bruce Morris (D-140), the Rev. Lindsay Curtis and the Rev. Jeffrey Ingraham.
“They’re hopeful that in the spring, or if necessary in the summer, they will have a fundraising for the Martin Luther King Scholarship Foundation, which is the beneficiary of the Martin Luther King Day citywide ceremonies that we have every year at City Hall,” he said. “So, I would encourage all the Council people and others that Martin Luther King Day, we look at it as a day on not a day off.
