Thermal imaging giant FLIR Systems says it has won a clutch of contracts with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that could end up being worth more than $23Â million in sales. Comprising orders for surveillance vehicles, drones, and related equipment, photonics-based technologies are fundamental to the agreements, notably mid-wave infrared (MWIR) and short-wave infrared (SWIR) imaging cameras. Mobile surveillance A key element of the award is a contract for delivering the next generation of FLIRâs âLightweight Vehicle Surveillance Systemâ (LVSS), which is intended to improve mobile surveillance capability.
