Lompoc asking for public input on how to spend $13 million in economic relief
LOMPOC, Calif. - Lompoc city officials are seeking community input on the best way to spend more than $13 million in economic relief funds received through the American Rescue Plan Act.
The city is planning to address a variety of infrastructure needs such as updates to the city’s police and fire departments, public library, and recreation divisions.
Jim Throop, Lompoc s city manager, said the city projects to have a surplus for this budget and the economic relief funds will help the city s recovery.
“It’s little, but we’ve been cutting for the last 8 to 10 years, so we’re finally turning the corner and this package that we’re getting as a stimulus is going to be extremely helpful,” Throop said. ....

Lompoc Council OKs Sending Letter About Ag Land Fans to Santa Barbara County

Brummer said the opponents have hired an attorney, Phil Sinco of Santa Maria, who contended the noisy equipment is not protected under “right to farm laws” for a number of reasons.
The petition suggests the grower should use hoop houses or quiet turbofans to avoid disturbing residents.
It also calls for the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors “to do whatever is necessary to immediately stop noisy propeller type wind machines from being used on farmland adjacent Purisima and Rucker Roads. 
“Also we request that county ordinances be amended to prevent this noisy propeller type of wind machine from being placed within one mile of any residential development,” the petition states. ....
