“It just feels like the full circle of probably the best player he (Troxel) has ever coached, and one of the most inspirational leaders (Hout) coming into the building and coaching for us now,” Lake City athletic director Troy Anderson said. “To see it come full circle, it just made it feel right.”
KENDALLVILLE — Jim Winger was hooked on bluegrass music when he attended a festival years ago in Ottawa, Ohio. He was captivated by the sound.
“I’m the kind of person that gets a little restless,” said James Anderson, Lake City’s girls basketball coach the past six seasons, who was hired Tuesday as head coach of the Lake City boys. “It’s pretty typical; every 4-6 years that I get restless and do something drastic like this .... I just looked over at the challenge that was sitting there, and wanted to take it on, and see if we could do some things that we did with the girls with the boys, and go for it.”
Winger was a head basketball coach for 26 years — the first two at his alma mater, Coeur d’Alene High, before starting the Lake City program in 1994. His overall record was 410-222.
