Apex Parks Group, which purchased Big Kahuna’s Water & Adventure Park in 2014, announced in April that it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and intended to sell the site. The park had already been closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Apex Parks Group “is pursuing a comprehensive financial restructuring aimed at reducing the company’s current debt and, ultimately, enhancing operations to continue to serve guests and communities for years to come,” a company news release said.
In June, APX Acquisition Company LLC, which held much of the Apex Parks Group debt prior to the bankruptcy filing, bought Big Kahuna and several other parks around the country. Big Kahuna then reopened later in June.
