Of the many recommendations presented by the recently unveiled latest draft of Cornwall’s recreation master plan, one has already garnered some opposition — the relocation of some sport fields to the Benson Centre.
The recreation master plan, once adopted by council, would lay out recommendations for the way in which Cornwall could tackle recreation for the next 10 years. Within the draft — which is a hefty 193 pages long — are several recommendations to move several sporting fields to an area around or even within the Benson Centre. Citing either lowered attendance or substandard conditions of certain fields, the recreation plan called for the consolidation of several sport amenities to the Benson Centre — either within its walls or in property to the north of it.
