WORK on a new multi-million pound Swindon pub is a step closer to beginning. Arkell's Brewery has appointed Edmont Ltd as its main contractor for the construction of a neighbourhood pub in the Tadpole Garden Village. The Stratton brewery has picked the borough-based business to be responsible for the multi-million-pound build project. which is set to start this summer. Swindon brewery Arkell's has launched a new American pale ale. The brewer launched the ale, Voyager, in some locations last year but has now added it to its bottle beer range. The inspiration for the name Voyager was realised from the early story of John Arkell. In the early 19th Century before John, founder of Arkell’s Brewery, had selected his site to realise his passion and build a brewery, he was a farmer by trade. Times were hard in British farming so he upped sticks and voyaged to the uninhabited plains of Canada to build a new farm and a new life.
