Scholarships awarded to Young Adult Committee May 18, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail GODFREY The RiverBend Growth Association’s Young Adults Committee recently held its year-end ceremony virtually. The committee’s students, mentors and nine local member non-profit organizations were recognized for all their hard work during the 2020-2021 school year. This year the committee held a raffle that raised $10,000. The committee has two seniors and two juniors from each of the five participating high schools: Alton High School, Civic Memorial High School, East Alton-Wood River High School, Marquette Catholic High School and Roxana High School. This year the committee heard presentations virtually from nine RBGA member organizations: Alton Parks & Recreation, American Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Call for Help, Community Hope Center, Jacoby Arts Center, Kreative Kids, Madison County Child Advocacy Center, and Riverbend Family Ministries. ....
WBGZ Radio 4/14/2021 | By Doug Jenkins - WBGZ Radio This year s East Alton - Wood River Oiler Hall of Fame class includes members of the military, an attorney, community volunteer, athletic trainer, and a fallen firefighter. The Hall of Fame was created by the East Alton Wood Ricer High School Board of Education in 2009 to recognize the accomplishments of past grads on an every-other-year basis. The induction ceremony is normally held in October, and if the pandemic precautions allow, that is the plan again this year.
