A Washington man admitted last Wednesday, March 20, to conspiring to hunt and kill bald and golden eagles on the Flathead Indian Reservation and then selling them on the black market across the United States and elsewhere. Sentencing is set for July 31.
Travis John Branson pleaded guilty to conspiracy, wildlife trafficking and two counts of trafficking federally protected bald and golden eagles.
MISSOULA, Mont. — A Washington state man accused of helping kill thousands of birds pleaded guilty in federal court March 20 to shooting eagles on an American Indian reservation in Montana and selling their feathers and body parts on the black market.
Federal authorities said the man and his partner killed about 3,600 birds, some of which were protected bald and golden eagles.
