SUPPLY John Dillard Pettigrew Jr., 67, affectionally known as “Dad,” “John Boy,” and “Papaw,” passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family after fighting glioblastoma cancer for several months.
He was born Dec. 2, 1953, in Gastonia, the son of the late John Dillard Pettigrew Sr. and June Thomas Pettigrew. He was also preceded in death by a son, William Thomas “Tommy” Pettigrew Sr.
Mr. Pettigrew was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a supervisor for UPS in Charlotte for many years. He retired from the post office in Shallotte. He never met a stranger and loved being around people. He loved the outdoors, being around nature and drew strength for what God had made. ....
