Authorities are investigating a fire at an East Bridgewater church - St. John Evangelist Catholic Church - after it was vandalized and items, including the Bible, were set on fire Friday. Firefighters arrived at the scene around 3:40 PM after a pastor reported smelling smoke. MONAHANS, TX – A Monahans man will spend the next 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to murdering his wife. According to local media, Jeremy McPeake pled guilty to killing his ex-wife LaTashia Thompson-McPeake in 2018. In November of that year officers located Thompson-McPeake s car crashed into the back of the St. John Evangelist Catholic Church. In the front seat of the vehicle, officers located the victim s body with several stab wounds. Investigators believe she was attempting to drive herself to the hospital but ultimately crashed and succumbed to her injuries. During the investigation, officers located the suspect hiding in the backyard home with bloody clothes and a cut on his hand.
