A bank executive who admitted to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from United Bank of Michigan will spend years in jail and will have to pay over a million dollars in fines, according to U.S. attorneys.
John Figg, 56, of Grand Rapids, is ordered to pay $870,000 in restitution to the United Bank of Michigan and $146,300 to the IRS. He is also sentenced to three years of supervised release following his time in prison.
The senior vice president of United Bank has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $870,000 from the bank from 2014 to 2021.
