Smart, William D, 1830?-1900 Farmer, goldminer and amateur artist. Born London, he arrived in New Zealand, with his brother John Franklin Smart, at Lyttelton, 1 March 1851. Between 1851 and 1861 he farmed with Mr H Turner, the 'Christchurch run' from the Waimakariri to the Heathcote River.
