JAMESTOWN CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING, DECEMBER 5, 2022 UNOFFICIAL MINUTES The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Heinrich at 5:00 P.M. The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited. Roll Call showed the following members present: Mayor Heinrich, Council Members Kamlitz, Buchanan, Steele and Schloegel, City Attorney Ryan, and City Administrator Hellekson. Ann Hoggarth of Buchanan, and Tom Tracy of Jamestown, appeared before the City Council. Council Member Schloegel moved to approve the minutes of the November 7, 2022, regular council meeting, and the November 22, 2022, all committees meeting. Seconded by Council Member Kamlitz. Unanimous aye vote. Carried. Council Member Kamlitz moved to approve the following consent agenda items: A. Resolution to approve the updated agreement between the City of Jamestown and Aqua-Pure, beginning January 1, 2023, and ending December 31, 2023, with the option to extend annually. B. The Jamestown City Council approved 3-2 an ordinance to amend the district map to change the zoning to a local commercial district where Dollar General plans to locate.
The failure of the state of North Dakota's ladder truck has left Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther worried about the department's ability to fight fires and make rescues from taller buildings in Jamestown and the North Dakota State Hospital.

JAMESTOWN, N.D. A long-serving former Democratic legislator from Jamestown, N.D., is being recognized for his service in conservation and education by political leaders around the state of North Dakota.
Lyle Hanson, 85, died Dec. 23 in Jamestown. He served in the North Dakota House of Representatives from 1979 to 2012 from District 12. Every sportsman and teacher knew he had their back, said John Grabinger, former senator from District 12 and running mate to Hanson in two elections. Education and conservation were the focus of his legislative career.
