Last of derailed locomotives removed from Goderich harbourfront

  WINGHAM, ONT. -- The last of six derailed train cars and engines has been removed from Goderich’s waterfront. Crews from Quebec started the meticulous process of slowly unhooking, lifting and moving the derailed locomotives Thursday morning. On Monday afternoon, a train with over 30 rail cars, came hurtling towards Goderich’s harbourfront. A tractor trailer, pickup truck, and fishing shanty were damaged or destroyed. Goderich Mayor looking to put a freeze on tax increases

The Town of Goderich are starting their budget deliberations. Council got a first glimpse of the 2021 draft budget at a special meeting on Wednesday. Mayor John Grace says first and foremost he would like to see any tax increase capped at zero percent as businesses have been struggling during the pandemic.     Grace says the pandemic has also impacted operations at the Maitland Recreation Centre and it could affect the budget. Goderich Mayor proud of accomplishments before and during pandemic

Kincardine, ON, Canada / ShorelineToday.ca Dec 30, 2020 12:37 PM Goderich Mayor John Grace says the town saw a lot of growth both before and during the pandemic and will continue to grow once things are back to normal. In his year-end interview with the Shoreline’s Oldies, Grace says 2020 was a great year for Goderich. He says one of the things they were able to accomplish is the rebuilding of the waterfront.     Grace says construction of a new residential development got under way over the summer and is looking forward to reviewing the town’s recreational needs through this decade.
