Even though Madigan is not on trial, lawyers for the ComEd Four defendants have tried to cast doubt in jurors' minds by challenging the allegation that Madigan could be bought.
The four defense attorneys are up next, each with their own arguments to make to the jury.
Federal prosecutors rejected Monday the idea that a “stunning" stream of benefits delivered to former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan by four political power players in his final decade in office amounted to legal lobbying, goodwill or politics.
