Hoosiers ready for weekend full of southpaws Notes ahead of another big weekend for Indiana baseball Share this story Auston Matricardi Indiana is headed east for pod play in New Jersey, where the Hoosiers will play two games each against Rutgers and Nebraska this weekend. Here’s what you ought to know ahead of the four-game trip: The last time Indiana saw Rutgers’ Harry Rutkowski was Opening Day in Minneapolis when the junior left-hander sat down Hoosier after Hoosier in six innings of one-run ball. It was a suboptimal start to the season for IU hitters, who struck out eight times and ma...
Three Things: Hoosiers get the sweep they needed Indiana took all three games against Minnesota this weekend, leaving little doubt in the process Share this story Auston Matricardi With last-place Minnesota in town, Indiana needed a three-game sweep — for positioning, for pride, for a lot of reasons. The Hoosiers took Friday’s opener, 6-4, before no-hitting the Illini on Saturday, 8-0.

Yeah, that’s what we thought. It was a really bad weekend for Indiana’s baseball program, which suffered its first sweep since 2019 (Tennessee) and its first conference sweep since 2018 (Minnesota) in losing all four games at Ohio State. IU fell 3-2 on Friday, 6-0 in Game 1 of Saturday’s twinbill, 5-2 in Game 2 of the doubleheader and 4-3 in Sunday’s finale. Let’s take a closer look.
