Some retailers and residents in the area of Alta Vista Road and John W. Morrow Jr. Parkways will have an interruption to their water service Friday following a water main break. Gainesville City officials said in a press release that crews are on the scene to repair the 12-inch water main and in the process have shut off the water. It's not clear what caused the break. The outage impacts shopping centers on both sides of Alta Vista Road, including standalone retailers, plus residences on Tower Heights Road. Officials estimate 100 people are without water.
