New bill targets food insecurity at public campuses
WORCESTER – State Sen. Harriette L. Chandler, D-Worcester, and several other lawmakers have filed a bill aimed at alleviating food insecurity at public colleges and universities in the state. “An Act establishing the Massachusetts Hunger-Free Campus Initiative” includes steps like creating a hunger prevention task force, developing student meal credit-sharing programs, and establishing emergency funds for students in need of financial support.
