Gun violence in Philly suburbs: ATF ballistic database to help police solve shootings, track illegal guns
A ballistics database machine, recently purchased by prosecutors in Montgomery County, will be used across the Philadelphia suburbs to help police solve gun-related crimes significantly faster. The National Integrated Ballistic Information Network, implemented by ATF in 1997, allows investigators to compare shell casings recovered at crime scenes and establish leads in their search to identify potential suspects.
