Kutztown Folk Fest tradition: 94-year-old tells story of hanging of Susanna Cox
For more than 20 years, June DeTurk has climbed the 13 steps to the top of the wooden gallows at the Kutztown Folk Festival to tell the story of the hanging of Susanna Cox in 1809. Three times a day, the Kutztown native has related the tale in a 30-minute program that includes hanging a dummy.
