Trigg County Hospital began the 1B phase of distribution for the COVID-19 vaccine for those 70 or older Wednesday morning. Hospital Administrator John Sumner told the News Edge things were running smoothly, but a little slow due to technology issues. He added they had around 500 vaccines to pass out Wednesday and Thursday and that all appointments for this week are full.
The phase included allowing all healthcare workers who wanted a vaccine a chance to get one. Hospital CEO John Sumner said the hospital has approximately 200 vaccines in stock and are awaiting approval from Dr. Steven Stack, Kentucky Public Health Commissioner, to move to the next phase. Sumner added hospital officials are ready to move into plan 1B, which allows frontline essential workers and people 75 or older a chance to get the vaccine.
