From Mirror staff reports The late John F. Gority will be honored after the Blair County War Veterans Council Memorial Day Parade on May 31 in downtown Altoona. Gority, 74, a decorated Vietnam War veteran, died Monday at UPMC Pinnacle in Harrisburg where he had been hospitalized since Easter. A large American flag in honor of Gority will be placed at the Robert E. Laws Memorial at Eleventh Avenue and 14th Street after the parade, said Lloyd Peck, commander of the war veterans council.
