West Lake Drive in Detroit Lakes is open again for normal traffic as road construction season officially ends for the year. The city expects to close the road again in the spring to finish the street and utility project, which will include the installation of a lakeside all-purpose trail.
The underground utility work is finished from the Pelican River to Breezy Shores and paving is expected to begin on that stretch soon. “The idea is to keep building the road behind the (utility) services headed towards County Road 6,” said Detroit Lakes City Engineer Jon Pratt.
