FERMANAGH Women’s Aid, in conjunction with the PSNI and with funding support from Enniskillen BID, has been providing training in understanding domestic violence and abuse for local pharmacists. The move to help roll out the initiative across Enniskillen follows the launch of the ‘Ask for ANI’ scheme by the UK government last month. This offers victims of domestic abuse the opportunity to discreetly seek help through pharmacies, by asking staff for “ANI” (sounds like ‘Annie’), with the discreet codeword signalling their need for help. ....
FERMANAGH Women s Aid, in partnership with Fermanagh and Omagh PSNI, will be facilitating free online domestic and sexual violence training for salon professionals in the Enniskillen area. Enniskillen-based hairdressers and beauticians are being encouraged to sign up for the In Safe Hands: How Salon Professionals Can Help training, which will take place online on Thursday, January 28 from 10.30am to 12.30pm. The session is funded by Enniskillen BID. During the training, salon professionals will learn how to recognise the signs of domestic violence and respond appropriately to disclosures. All of the salon professionals who previously attended these sessions said that they had had a disclosure of abuse but didn t know how to respond. Thanks to the training, they now know the appropriate action to take. ....
