The suspect has been identified by Homewood Police as 28-year-old Jordan Markice Ricks of Pelham. Warrants have been obtained by police charging him with murder and leaving the scene of an accident.

Madison County Coroner Tyler Berryhill said Brian Potts, 39, of Huntsville, was pronounced dead at Enterprise Way near University Drive at 12:27 a.m. Sheriff’s Office spokesman Brent Patterson said Potts fled when deputies attempted to take him into custody for outstanding warrants for reckless endangerment and attempting to flee and elude.
