A polar airmass is expected to surge towards the Gulf Coast later this week and will bring several hazards to the area. Both *HARD FREEZE* and *WIND CHILL* alerts can be expected as early as Thursday night and could last through Christmas Day. Wednesday and Thursday should be used to take measures to protect family, friends, pets and property from the likelihood of extreme and prolonged freezing conditions. With below average temperatures, there are a couple of chances for rain through early next week. A big blast of cold air is expected right before Christmas.

After Friday, the Capital Area may not reach 60 degrees again until after Christmas. There are a few chances for rain this weekend into early next week.

The threat for severe weather and heavy rain has ended. It will start feeling more like December as much cooler temperatures return to the Capital Area.

A *DENSE FOG ADVISORY* will be in effect from 9pm to 10am Thursday morning for the entire WBRZ Weather Forecast Area. Visibility could be as low as one quarter mile or less. Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility should be expected.
