The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have permanently expelled Mikha Piregu, president of JU Chhatra Union, for allegedly forging the signature and seal of the department’s chairman for permission to attend special examinations.
Mikha Piregu was a student of Marketing department (44th batch) of the university and joint secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra Union (BCU) newly formed central committee.
The decision came at a special syndicate meeting, chaired by JU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Farzana Islam on last November, said a press release here.
While contacted, Mikha Piregu said, I did not commit any such fraud. I submitted a photocopy of the application to the office of the Controller of Examinations to participate in the special examination. They accused it of signature forgery. ....

The 13th death anniversary of Professor Selim Al-Deen, an eminent playwright and founder chairman of the Department of Drama and Dramatics of Jahangirnagar University (JU), was observed on the campus.
At the beginning of the day, on behalf of JU vice chancellor Prof. Dr. Farzana Islam, director of JU Teacher - Student Center (TSC) Prof. Dr. Alamgir Kabir and chairman of JU Drama and Dramatics department Dr. Soma Momtaz placed floral wreaths at the grave of Selim Al Deen.
Later, Drama and Dramatics department of the university brought out a rally from the Amor Ekushey premises around 12.30 pm. ....
