The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Juniors posted a 3-1 record this past weekend in the Chuck Wiley Memorial Premier Event, finishing in a tie for third place out of 16 teams.
ELSBERRY — The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Juniors finished in second place out of eight teams in the Elsberry Post 226 Memorial Weekend Wood Bat Tournament with a 4-1 record to begin their season.
The approach remains the same, no matter the opponent. “Have good at-bats, pump the strike zone, make the routine plays,” Helias coach Chris Wyrick said Tuesday after the Crusaders defeated the Owensville Dutchmen 11-1 in five innings at the American Legion Post 5 Sports Complex. “That has to be the philosophy.”
