BMW driver led police on 35 mile chase | This Is Wiltshire

A BMW driver high on cocaine and cannabis led police on a 35-mile chase that ended when he crashed into a bollard.
Morgan Scott who has never passed his driving test, took off from officers on Thamesdown Drive after they tried to pull him over as he had a bald back tyre.
During the hour-long pursuit the 21-year-old drove at up to twice the speed limit, jumped red lights, mounted a verge to avoid a stinger and forced one officer to jump out the way of his car. Scott kept his head bowed as footage of the chase was played to the court. ....

Burglar's sentencing delayed over ashes scattering concerns

THE ASHES of a burglary victim’s father were said to have been tipped over in a ransacking of a Swindon home.
The man in the dock for that burglary, repeat offender Russell Bastow, denies scattering the ashes – but admits breaking into the Homington Avenue property on September 29.
Together with another man, who has never been identified, he stole £700, two watches, a handbag, jewellery and a set of underwear.
Bastow, 41, had expected to be sentenced on Thursday at Swindon Crown Court. But Judge Peter Crabtree put the case back to January 22 after raising a number of questions of the case that could not be answered by prosecutor Lucy Taylor. ....

Ashley Hunt, 31, from Chipping Sodbury, jailed for drug dealing

A GANG flooded Swindon with cannabis and cocaine – even dealing the drugs further afield.
The gang of six, three members of which have already been given more than 16 years’ worth of jail, supplied high purity cocaine and “designer” cannabis to dealers and directly to users.
The conspiracy can now be reported, after the only member of the alleged gang to fight his case to trial after he was found not guilty of conspiring to supply cocaine.

Ashley Hunt and Nicholas Bullock, both 31, were the two at the Bristol end of the chain.
Hunt was the link man – arranging drop-offs with Swindonian Kyle Rigley, 28. Bullock was the bagman; the man surveillance officers clocked handing over a shoebox-sized package to Jack Young, 29, and Kyle Rigley in Bristol on October 9, 2018. ....

Knifeman who stole 12kg of protein powder is jailed

A SHOPLIFTER who stole 12kg of protein powder from Home Bargains then left staff fearing he’d “gut” them has been jailed.
Craig Moores, 29, was on bail at the time. Three months earlier, he’d been stopped behind the wheel of a green Rover while high on cocaine. A machete was found underneath the driver’s seat and a lock knife in the car’s centre console.
Sending him down for six months at Swindon Crown Court yesterday, Judge Peter Crabtree said: “I agree this was an offence where there was no production or threats with the bladed articles that were charged. However, you were in possession of two blades in a vehicle and that they were immediately to hand and you had consumed class A drugs.” ....

Chase driver accused of breaching community order

Sentencing the driver to a two year community order with requirements to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and 20 rehabilitation days, Judge Peter Crabtree said: “This was certainly a case of bad driving but it does not appear it was prolonged in terms of timing or distance.
“Nevertheless, you overtook vehicles over white lines, you missed a central bollard by the sound of it, hit one traffic sign and drove at excessive speed through a built-up area.”
The judge said the offence was worth a year’s imprisonment, but made the community order as a direct alternative to prison.
Drew, of Philip Close, Melksham, was due back before Swindon Crown Court on Monday to answer allegations he breached the community order by failing to attend probation appointments. ....
