A doctor who wore scrubs and a stethoscope to visit a relative in hospital during the early covid lockdown in 2020, when visits were banned, escaped a sanction after a medical practitioners tribunal found that although he was guilty of misconduct his current fitness to practise was not impaired. The General Medical Council failed to prove that Muhammad Chaudhary, at the time a GP trainee at North Manchester General Hospital, had known that the rules on visiting in place at Wythenshawe Hospital barred him from seeing his relative, said Julia Oakford, chairing the tribunal.
