Readers back calls for bigger Great Western Hospital after pandemic struggles

It comes after Great Western Hospital chief Kevin McNamara criticised the size of the current hospital.
The idea has been floated by Swindon Borough Councillor Stan Pajak who was on the original planning board that approved GWH - although he voted against it.
More government funding is available for the hospital with £30m being made available to expand its A&E department.
South Swindon MP Robert Buckland also backed calls for a bigger hospital, saying he and fellow North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson would continue to work with GWH to get the improvements.

Adver readers share views as GWH raises £2.2m from parking fees in a year to March 2020

The Swindon’s hospital raised around £2.2 million through charging staff, patients, and visitors to park last year.
Of that, £1.4m was paid by patients and visitors, while £768,640 came in through charges, NHS Digital data revealed.
Figures reveal that patients and visitors paid an average hourly rate of £1.10 at the most expensive of the trust’s three sites, while staff spent 13p per hour at the priciest spot.
