Signal Mountain, Baylor Claim Region Wrestling Titles Both Teams Claim Six Individual Champs While Winning With Ease Saturday, February 13, 2021 - by John Hunt Saturday was a day of celebration for wrestling teams representing Signal Mountain and Baylor as they both won their region tournaments as they get ready for next week’s traditional state tournament that will be held at the Hamilton County Convention & Trade Center. The Eagles won the Region 3-A/AA for the first time at Eagleville as they put seven individuals in the championship finals and came home with six winners while racking up 227 points and beating runner-up Nolensville by 37 points. ....

That’s the way it was in the State Duals wrestling tournament in Williamson County Saturday. It was a championship rematch in all three divisions and two of the three defending champions were able to prevail once again, top-ranked Baylor battling Christian Brothers in the D-II tournament while second-ranked Cleveland faced Wilson Central for the second straight year in AAA. The A-AA final was another repeat, but Fairview came out ahead with a heart-stopping 39-36 victory over Pigeon Forge, a two-time defending champ who had won three of the past four titles. ....
