The hearing into Ben Melham s betting charges before the Victorian Racing Tribunal was on Monday adjourned for penalty submissions, which will be heard on Tuesday, after the leading jockey pleaded guilty.
Melham s representative Dermot Dann told the tribunal that Melham would enter a plea of guilty to charges 1, 2, 3 and 7, while entering no plea on charges 4 and 6.
The VRT ruled in October that Charge 5 relating to bets placed on Singapore races be dropped as the Australian rules of racing do not explicitly prevent a local jockey from punting on overseas races.
The charge against Melham s partner Karlie Dales relating to her evidence was withdrawn.
