It’s about the very thin line between love and hate – and how jealousy and bitterness can bring out the worst in all of us. It’s a subject matter I've always found extremely fascinating, and with my sensibility and visual style, and my general love for the genre, together with this amazing cast, I cannot wait to bring this chilling story to life.”

Netflix Orders 'Loving Adults' as First Danish Film Original Elsa Keslassy, provided by FacebookTwitterEmail Netflix has ordered “Loving Adults,” its first Danish language film starring Dar Salim (“Borgen,” “Game of Thrones”) and Sonja Ricther (“The Bridge”), with Barbara Rothenborg (“White Sand”) on board to direct. The thriller is being produced by Marcella Dichmann for SF Studios, the company behind Netflix original series “Snabba Cash” and Netflix’s first Swedish film, “Red Dot.” More from Variety “Loving Adults” is based on the novel “Kærlighed for voksne” by Anna Ekberg, which has been sold to nine countries, including France, Italy and Spain. The film revolves around Christian (Salim) and Leonora (Richter), a seemingly perfect couple living with their son who’s just been declared healthy after a long-term severe illness. Their future finally seems bright, but at a party at Christian’s entrepreneur company, Leonora sees her husband with a younger woman, the architect Xenia (Sus Wilkins). Leonora realizes that Christian might leave her and sets off to ensure that doesn’t happen, by all means.
Courtesy Of Netflix RITES OF SPRING A desolate island may hold the key to a 21-year-old mystery in this Danish series. Our streaming entertainment options are overwhelming — and not always easy to sort through. Recently, I was telling a friend about the interesting Danish high school graduation customs documented in 2021 Oscar winner Another Round. (Oral exams on philosophy! Very drunk kids in nautical-looking caps boarding a party bus, accompanied by their equally drunk teachers!) She informed me there was a whole mystery series pivoting on just such graduation festivities gone awry. I had to watch it. "Equinox" (2020) is a six-episode Netflix original series produced in Denmark, directed by Søren Balle and Mads Matthiesen and based on the podcast "Equinox 1985," created by Tea Lindeburg. The show doesn't shed any light on the origins of those "The Love Boat"-esque caps (actually a long Nordic student tradition), but it's a head trip, all right.
The Martha's Vineyard Times Three friends take cooking lessons “The Food Club,” a comedy featuring seniors, is screening virtually at the M.V. Film Society this week. Directed by Barbara Topsøle-Rothenborg, it describes the misadventures of three Danish women of a certain age at a cooking school in Puglia, Italy. Much like “Under the Tuscan Sun” or “Made in Italy,” it takes the viewers to scenically beautiful Italy, this time with Maria (Karoline Hamm), Berling (Stina Ekblad), and Vanja (Kirsten Lebfelot). All three are well-known Danish actresses. The three friends, all pushing 70, have gathered after Maria discovers her husband Henrik is having an affair with a younger woman and after 44 years of marriage, is ready to dump her. Maria’s sons have given their parents a Christmas gift certificate to attend an Italian cooking school, and with Henrik no longer in the picture, the three friends decide to take advantage of it. Each of the three has a different challenge. Maria is devastated by her husband’s infidelity; Berling, serving sushi for Christmas dinner, ignores her daughter and family for a life of independence; Vanja, still mourning her deceased husband, is devoted to her dog Miller.
