Wyoming Students Enter CNFR as National Points Leaders for UW Rodeo | News

June 1, 2021 The next time Donny Proffit sets foot on the floor of the Ford Wyoming Center -- formerly the Casper Events Center -- it will be in a pair of cowboy boots and not a pair of wrestling shoes. For Karson Bradley, she won’t fret too much about competing in collegiate rodeo’s biggest event -- she’s been there before. Proffit will return to Casper this time for the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) June 13-19 as a member of the University of Wyoming rodeo team, not as a four-time state champion wrestler for Kemmerer High School (KHS). For Bradley, from Big Piney, this will be ...

UW Rodeo Teams Complete Wire-to-Wire Regional Championships | News

May 3, 2021 From the opening rodeo last fall until the final event this past weekend, there was no doubt that the University of Wyoming had the teams to beat in the Central Rocky Mountain Region (CRMR). The Cowboys and Cowgirls went wire-to-wire during the fall and spring seasons to capture their third consecutive CRMR team titles. The UW women were so dominant this season that they swept all five fall rodeos and took four of the five spring events in accumulating 3,644.65 points to send the four-member points team to next month’s College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR). The Cowgirls easily ou...

Record-Setting Performance Boosts UW Cowboys, Cowgirls First in Home Rodeo | News

April 26, 2021 It is only fitting that the University of Wyoming men’s rodeo team close out its home rodeo with a record-setting performance. The Cowboys put together a solid effort throughout their six-man points team Sunday afternoon to accumulate 870 points in establishing a new record in winning the annual Laramie River Rendezvous Rodeo in what has been a runaway season for Coach Beau Clark’s club. The UW men topped the previous record of 865 points set last September in the season opener. This marks the fourth time in program history that a Cowboys team has surpassed the 800-point ma...

65th Ropin' and Riggin Days Rodeo Begins Friday in Casper

A long-standing Casper tradition will renew itself this weekend as Casper College will host the 65th annual Ropin' and Riggin Days rodeo at the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds. This event was not held last year due to the pandemic; in fact, the entire spring season in the Central Rocky Mountain Region was a scratch as well as the College National Finals Rodeo. But the CNFR is a go this year and the top 2 teams and top 3 individuals from the region will qualify for nationals. In the men's team standings, the University of Wyoming is running first with Gillette College 2nd and Casper College 3rd. T...

UW Cowboys, Cowgirls Prepare for Two Rodeos in Gillette This Weekend | News

March 17, 2021 The University of Wyoming men’s and women’s teams open the spring season with a pair of Central Rocky Mountain Region (CRMR) rodeos this weekend in Gillette. The Sheridan rodeo is scheduled in Gillette March 18-19, and the host Pronghorns will have their own rodeo March 20-21. Both rodeos will have just one head and one run for each competitor this weekend, instead of the usual long and short go rounds during a weekend event. Both the Cowboys and Cowgirls will be going for their third consecutive regional titles this season. Both currently lead their respective CRMR divisio...
