A proposed tax increment financing district funding a $230 million arena at University North Park will go to a public vote — unless courts nip it in the bud.

After nearly nine months of controversy, delay, indecision and inaction, the Norman City Council decided on Tuesday to let city voters decide the fate of a billion-dollar entertainment district development.

On Thursday, the statutory review committee for a proposed arena and entertainment district unanimously voted to support the project.

The proposed University North Park entertainment district project statutory review committee motioned to adopt and recommend the plan to the Norman City Council Thursday.
