State Vet Welcomed by Colleagues Thursday May 6th, 2021 New Colorado State Veterinarian Dr. Maggie Baldwin begins her position with enthusiastic support from colleagues at the Department of Agriculture. Colorado Proud Program Manager Danielle Trotta says she is happy to welcome the new state vet for a host of reasons. Trotta: “ I’m just so excited. The Colorado Department of Agriculture has been making history for the past couple of years elevating women to these great positions. We started with Commissioner Kate as the first women commissioner and now we have our first Colorado State Veterinarian Maggie Baldwin. She just really stepped up to the plate during the pandemic and worked with the Governor’s office and emergency response and put her skill set to good use. She’s young, she has a family and we’re just happy to see her excel and plant her roots and do great things in that position.” ....
BROOMFIELD, Colo. – The Colorado Department of Agriculture announced that Dr. Maggie Baldwin has been named state veterinarian. In the role, Baldwin will manage CDA’s Animal Health division through planning, directing and executing all programs, policies and cooperative agreements with other governmental agencies. Implementation of secure food supply plans and emergency response plans, enhanced animal disease traceability, education, and robust stakeholder engagement are among Baldwin’s priorities for the position. She is also making history as the first-ever female state veterinarian in Colorado. “Time and again, Maggie has proved her mettle in crisis management, animal disease complexities, and excellence in service to the veterinary profession,” said Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg. “Coloradoans will benefit from the skill and dedication that Maggie brings to the people and animals of our state.” ....
