The Parole Board of Canada is allowing Keith Wiens to take escorted absences for eight hours at a time to a maximum of 40 hours a month from his Kingston, Ont., prison, according to a decision dated Feb. 8. Wiens was convicted in 2013 of second-degree murder in the Aug. 15, 2011 shooting death of his common-law wife, Lynn Kalmring in their Penticton home.
