'I needed to take medication for years. When I did, it was life-changing'
Before she met me for our interview in Dublin last week, Ellen Ryan called her sister, Amy, because she was feeling nervous. Her only sibling, a nurse, is seven years younger. “She’s a tougher cookie than I am, but also incredibly kind and empathetic,” Ellen says. “She told me: ‘Just be yourself, and it’s OK to be open. It’s OK if certain subjects come up.’ Because I would worry about it.”
