There’s an East Anglian derby in the world of bowls on Thursday afternoon when Town supporter Katherine Rednall takes on Norwich-based Rebecca Field in the final of the Just Retirement Ladies World Matchplay Singles at the Potters Resort in Hopton, Norfolk (BBC2 1pm).

The world of lawn bowls witnessed an extraordinary achievement today as New Zealand's dynamic duo, Teri Blackbourn, and Julie O'Connell, clinched the gold medal at the inaugural Women's Para Pairs event during the World Bowls Championships on the Gold .
But Forrest will now face sixth seed Greg Harlow from England. Apart from Forrest, two other women have been competing in the open section – Katherine Rednall is also through to the last-16, but Ellen Falkner was defeated in the first round. In the previous three World Indoor Bowls Championships, no women featured in the main draw of the open section. In the ladies’ singles, reigning champion Forrest lost her opening tie to Devon Cooper. Forrest had taken the trophy home for two consecutive years before crashing out at an early stage this year. Speaking to BBC Sport following her 2019 success, Forrest said: “I am actually still shaking. I thought my legs were going to collapse. I’m ecstatic.”
Forrest, from Hawick, beat compatriot Jason Banks in their match yesterday (January 14) at Potters Resort, Norfolk. Forrest is the only woman to have progressed into the second round of the open event so far – English bowler Ellen Falkner was knocked out by Mervyn King, with Katherine Rednall yet to contest her opening round. READ MORE: In last year s competition, Forrest was crowned the women s singles champion, and she is also in the running for this title again. In the previous three World Indoor Bowls Championships, no women qualified for the main draw of the open section. Forrest s next match will be against sixth seed Greg Harlow on January 21.
