At first glance at the jockeys list for Thursday’s Rockhampton Jockey Club eight race TAB meeting, one could be excused for misconstruing it as a metropolitan register.

The Golden Eagle, the Stradbroke Handicap and even the Queensland Derby were all mentioned as potential future options as X-factor galloper Private Eye snatched victory from the jaws of defeat at Eagle Farm.
Joe Pride certainly has some thinking to do, for both the Queensland winter carnival and beyond, as three-year-old Private Eye did what jockey Brenton Avdulla thought was impossible in winning the Group 2 Queensland Guineas (1600m).
Hard-ridden in last spot and barely able to see leader Apache Chase, Avdulla had conceded defeat.
“I was under hard riding before the corner and I thought it was going to be a waste of time to be honest,” Avdulla said. ....

RACING: Jaden Lloyd was given an inch, and he took a mile with an all the way effort at Allman Park, Warwick.
The rising apprentice made light work of the widest barrier in the field of six in the Benchmark 58 Handicap (2000m).
Felzone ($2.15 fav) was never tested at any stage of the race for the lead, giving him plenty in the tank for the business end of the event.
Lloyd was able to do just that, fending off the late challenge of brother Zac aboard Leicable ($9.50) to score by a half-length.
It gives the five-year-old back-to-back wins for trainer Kelly Schweida after saluting at Gatton last month. ....
