2 drivers injured in separate shootings in Rockford ROCKFORD — Two people were injured in separate shootings hours apart Friday night while driving on city streets, according to the Rockford Police Department. A 27-year-old man was shot in the leg around 9 p.m. while driving near Auburn Street and Ridge Avenue. He was treated at a local hospital and released, police said Monday in a news release. ROCKFORD — A vehicle was charred and the garage of a duplex severely damaged by fire Friday afternoon on the city's east side. The fire was reported shortly after 3 pm at a duplex in the 6600 block of North Point Road. “Firefighters were able to enter one of the structures and get the occupant out of the building safely,” District Chief Bill Hyde said. “The other structure had already been evacuated by the time the fire department arrived.” Hyde said the fire appears to have started in the garage at one of the units.
