ALTON – Madison County Board member and long-time Alton alderman Jim Dodd is being remembered as someone who served his constituents and spoke his mind.
Dodd, 77, died Wednesday at Alton Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He had been in poor health for several years, and had not attended any county board meetings since spring 2017.
Dodd was first elected to the Madison County Board in 2012. Prior to that he had served as an Alton alderman for the 6th Ward from April 1981 to March 1997. He was also the owner and operator of Jim’s Mobil. ....

A Jefferson County Circuit Court judge dismissed charges against Kenneth Walker with prejudice on Monday morning, meaning the charges can t be brought up again. Kenneth Walker is accused of shooting an officer when police busted down Breonna Taylor s apartment door during a drug raid almost a year ago. He was charged with assault and attempted murder of a police officer after he opened fire during the raid, wounding Louisville Metro police Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly in the leg. Taylor was shot multiple times and died in the hallway.There was no body camera footage of the incident.Walker spent a couple weeks in jail before being released to home incarceration.The charges against Walker were dropped the following May, but without prejudice, meaning they could be refiled if new information came to light.Then, Commonwealth s Attorney Tom Wine said he believed more should have been presented to the grand jury.Back in September, Walker and h ....

Kenneth Walker is accused of shooting an officer when police busted down Breonna Taylor s apartment door during a drug raid almost a year ago.Walker has maintained that he did not know the people at the door were officers.He was charged with assault and attempted murder of a police officer after he opened fire during the raid, wounding Louisville Metro police Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly in the leg.
