As Christmas and the New Year approach, health care workers are hoping people will remain cautious about COVID-19 to help hospitals get through the holiday season. Infectious disease specialist Eddie Stenehjem at Intermountain Healthcare said hospitals are still a tough place to be for staff and patients. He said Utahns can best support them by continuing to wear masks and social distancing, especially since the holidays could mean big spikes later on. He said the next two weeks will possibly be the biggest hurdle the country faces until widespread vaccination next summer. ....

Heber City man sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for wire fraud

SALT LAKE CITY — A Heber City man will serve 18 months in federal prison followed by 36 months of supervised release for stealing over $600,000 from a Utah business.
54-year-old Kent Crump pleaded guilty to wire fraud in federal court.
In the plea agreement, Crump said that while he was working as the comptroller for Park City Dry Cleaning and Linen Corporation, between 2012 and 2018, he stole $672,081.
Crump admitted he would take large portions of the cash receipts received by retail locations and deposit the cash in his and his wife s personal bank accounts. ....
