Sturgis Public Schools Board of Education on Monday welcomed newly hired staff members to the district.
Andrea Barry, seventh-grade science, Sturgis Middle School. Barry has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Michigan State University with minors in psychology and sociology. She completed her teacher certification program from Eastern Michigan University with a major in elementary provisional, K-8, and minors in language arts and science. Barry taught language arts for two years at American International School Brazzaville, Republic of Congo. She previously taught in Marshall and Lincoln City, Ore. 
Katie Bir, first grade, Wall Elementary. Bir graduated from University of Arizona with a Bachelor in Education Studies and a Master in Business Administration. Most recently, she was a long-term substitute teacher at Wall. Bir was an intelligence analyst for National Security Agency, U.S. Air Force.  ....
