Jackets Compete in NCAA Singles Championships ORLANDO, Fla. – Competing in the NCAA Championships round of 64 singles Sunday morning, Georgia Tech’s Kenya Jones and Victoria Flores could not hold on, falling in a pair of straight set decisions. The Jackets fell behind early, dropping both first sets to their opponents. Jones, who took a commanding 5-2 lead over No. 61 Selin Ovunc (Auburn) in the first set, held five set points against the Tiger, but couldn’t close as Ovunc battled back to win five straight games to take the opening set, 7-5. Jones took a 2-0 lead in the second set, but Ovunc rallied back and took a 4-2 advantage. Jones broke Ovunc for a 4-3 tally, but the Tiger won the next two games to seal the match in the second set, 6-3. ....
Flores, Jones Earn All-ACC Honors THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis seniors Kenya Jones and Victoria Flores collected 2021 Atlantic Coast Conference all-conference honors as announced by the league office on Thursday. Jones was named to the first team, while Flores earned second-team recognition. The honors were determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches. Boasting a 17-8 overall singles record, Jones has led the Yellow Jackets from the No. 1 position all season long. She is 16-7 in dual play at the top spot and went 9-2 against league opponents. Currently ranked No. 5 nationally in singles, Jones has spent the entire season ranked in the top 15, climbing as high as No. 2 on March 30. This marks Jones’ third All-ACC honor, having been named to the first team in 2019 and second team in 2018. ....
